While you're in quarantine, it's quite easy to spend more time on social media, making it very easy to compare yourself. In those times it’s important to remind yourself that you are good enough the way you are - don’t compare your everyday life to people’s highlights.  You are good enough and you need to start telling yourself you are.

Step 1. Tell yourself you are enough

Make it a habit, every day, to get up, look in the mirror and tell yourself: I am beautiful. I am smart. I am enough. Even if you don’t believe yourself at first, continue doing it and eventually you’ll believe it. There’s a saying called “fake it ‘til you make it”, however a very clever woman once said  “fake it ‘til you become it”, because eventually, you will.

Your thoughts affect your opinions, so give the thoughts that tell you that you're not good enough the middle finger!

Step 2. Don’t compare yourself

Once again, on social media it’s extremely easy to compare yourself to other people. So step 2 is - don't!

What's important to remember though is that their beauty doesn’t take away from your own. She might be beautiful, but so are you! The only person you should compare yourself to is yourself, are you being the best version of yourself?

Step 3. Surround yourself with the right people

I think we've all heard the saying, "you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with" and that quote can be up for debate, but there's definitely something in it. Laughter and happiness is contagious, so surround yourself with people who are happy and who make you happy.

Now don't get us wrong - it's okay to feel down at times and you should allow yourself to feel those feelings too, it can even make us appreciate the happy moments even more, but surround yourself with people who's mindset is on a positive note. It will make you appreciate the good in the moments that might not all be good, and perhaps even make you a more positive person.

Step 4. Spend time with yourself

Other people’s company can be nice, but at the same time it's something we might take for granted at times. Remember that your company is the one that should be the most precious and valuable. Take yourself out on dates, go to the movie by yourself (more popcorn for you!!), go watch the sunset, read a book, take a bubble bath - just spend time with you, and enjoy it.

It's your time to relax, reflect, perhaps start a journal and write down 3 things you're grateful for every day, or perhaps 3 good things you did that day (can be things you did for yourself or for other people).

Step 5. Start treating yourself like someone you love

One more time, louder for the people in the back: Treat yourself like someone you love. This will be a game changer for you. If someone you love make mistakes, you forgive them, give them space to grow and to learn, which is exactly what you should be doing with yourself.

Don't be so hard on yourself - allow yourself to make mistakes, because it is from mistakes that we learn.

In conclusion - the path to self love isn't straight, it has it's ups and downs and is a continuous journey that needs maintenance. It's just like working out! You need to keep going to the gym to be strong, just like you need to spend time on yourself.
